I have really wanted to try out two current trends, boyfriend jeans and ripped jeans. (well not really current, they are remakes from the 80s/90s, let's remember everything is cyclical!) Anyway, I was having no luck, first off I thought boyfriend jeans only really worked on models who didn't have the hips that make baggy = frumpy. Second, I just couldn't find anything at the thrift store with the distressed look I wanted. And besides allll of that, I have a hard time finding jeans that are the right length, because apparently when you're a man you get all the length options, but when you're a woman, you don't get any taller as your waist gets larger... rant over.
Anyway, I have to give all the credit to one of my favorite blogs, Goodwill Gold, for giving me the idea to make my own distressed denim! Check out her post here and the video we both used here.
I was able to find some J. Crew Matchstick jeans a size up that acted as boyfriend jeans, and they look good rolled up a tad, more like intentional ankle pants rather than highwaters. Then I used the youtube tutorial above and they turned out great! Just the right amount of distress, baby steps. What do you think about this DIY? Would you distress your own jeans or just purchase ones you already love?
