Here's an example of coveting something in retail only to have it show up at the thrift store. I actually purchased these loafers in black when J. Crew Factory was having a huge after Thanksgiving sale and I had a coupon. (I think I paid about $45.) I loved the look, but when I put them on they rubbed a little bit on my big toe. I could still wear them comfortably to work, but they weren't great for walking longer distances, which is what I wanted them for. Deciding another pair of work flats just wasn't worth almost $50, I ended up returning them.
Well, come to find out my roommate has the same pair and when she told me the leather stretches and the rubbing goes away, I was kicking myself. I should have kept them! At that point they were sold out online, and used ones were going for higher than what I paid for new ones. Imagine my shock when I stumbled across them in my size two months later. They are navy blue, but they actually match a lot of my work outfits. Even if I only wear them to work, I'll take a cute pair of suede flats for under $10 any day!
